Heritage Trail

Pennsylvania Avenue Heritage Trail takes you through Baltimore's Premier historic African American neighborhood. Here, you will meet civil rights leaders, artists and musicians, visit historic African American churches, and relive the glory days of Pennsylvania Avenue, once a world renowned entertainment district. Along the Trail, you'll find colorful and historically-rich story signs and site markers that introduce you to Baltimore African Americans that helped build Baltimore, gain civil rights, and change the face of American music, art, literature, and politics.

Walk it, drive it, talk it, explore!

Self-Guided Walk: Take a journey into Baltimore's past by following the Trail map to see the Star Attractions. You'll also find colorful and historcally-rich story signs located at strategic locations along the Trail.

Choose for Yourself: Use this guide to help you explore all or part of the Trail, or customize your site selection by visiting the attractions that appeal to you the most.

You may want to plan a rest or refreshment stop along the Trail.
